NSW: Former MP faces child sex charges
Former Liberal MP PETER BLACKMORE has today faced child sex charges in a New South Wales court.
57-year-old Mr BLACKMORE was supported by family and friends, and was not requiredto enter a plea.
The former mayor of Maitland is charged with carnal knowledge of a child under 10,carnal knowledge of a child between 10 and 16, and sexual intercourse without consent.
The Newcastle Local Court has given the Department of Public Prosecutions until Augustthe 28th to lay any additional sexual offence charges -- after hearing the case is stillnot ready over four months after charges were first laid.
Mr BLACKMORE's solicitor says his client is distressed and far from happy with the delays.
